THE HISTORY OF KURVER KREME

Kurver Kreme was established on Central Avenue in Colonie, becoming one of the oldest ice cream stands in the Capital Region.


🍦1981

Kurver Kreme, a cherished Albany ice cream stand since 1952, was acquired by the Meineker family in 1981. Under their ownership, the stand maintained its nostalgic charm while introducing new flavors and seasonal treats.


🍦2013

Howard J. Meineker Jr., who co-owned Kurver Kreme with his wife Lorie, passed away after a brief illness & Cheryl Apple took over the family business.

Cheryl Apple reflected on her experiences growing up and working at Kurver Kreme, emphasizing its significance in the community


🍦2025

After 44 years of ownership, the Apple family sold Kurver Kreme to new owners, David Hostig, Theresa Mantica, and Mark Wagner. The new proprietors plan to maintain the stand's traditional offerings and uphold its legacy.
